Rose Quartz - Stone of Love

Rose quartz, with its gentle and hazy pink shade, is a variety of the mineral quartz. It is popular for use in jewelry making and you’ll often see it cut into cabochons and beads or just as loose tumbled stones. Rose quartz is found mainly in Brazil but also in the US and other parts of the world.

Rose quartz is often associated with the astrological star signs Taurus and Libra. It has been used as a semi-precious gemstone and as other ornamental and religious objects for thousands of years.

Rose Quartz is known as the “Lovestone” or the “stone of the heart”. It is believed that rose quartz can open a person’s heart and allow them to find love, to love themselves or heal from a painful or broken down relationship. This fair gemstone is said to exude tranquility, restoring trust and inner harmony to those that possess it. It is also an energizing gemstone, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. It is said that rose quartz can generate feelings of happiness and sensuality as well as love.

Rose Quartz was said to have been used by Isis in an Egyptian legend, to help her maintain her youth and beauty. Indeed, Rose Quartz facial masks were reported to have been found in tombs in ancient Egypt, so it’s quite possible that the ancient Egyptians used this gem as some form of beauty treatment.

Even though the Rose Quartz isn’t an expensive or rare gem, it’s still very much sought after for its great emotional healing and nurturing powers. The love stone is apparently able to heal and promote every type of love, whether that’s platonic, romantic, self-love or simply unconditional love. That makes this gem pretty special!
